“a young company with a big talent” "the excellent Inspector Sands"
The Times The Herald
"They are brilliant and reckless, precise and inventive, intelligent and frank.
They are kaleidoscopic creators. Don't miss them!"
New York Theatre Guide
2013 has seen the company create two brand new pieces of work:
---- Rock Pool
A new show for 3-5 year olds.
When a big storm whips up the sea, two very different creatures are left stranded in an isolated rock pool, far from the open water. As their little pool starts to drain away, Prawn and Crab don’t have long to find a way of getting on and getting home. Rock Pool is like a partially submerged, crustacean version of Waiting for Godot with music and splashy dancing.
Rock Pool was the winner of the Sprout Commission, a partnership between Farnham Maltings and Arts Partnership Surrey in association with Take Art designed to create and tour a new piece of young people’s theatre to new audiences, initially across Surrey and Somerset.
---- A High Street Odyssey
A 25-minute promenade audio tour of the high street for 30 intrepid souls.
The landscape is so familiar: the bricked over thoroughfare, the brightly coloured hoardings, the bins, the bollards, the benches, the buyers, the browsers. But what mysteries lie behind the pedestrianised retail street? Who was Mr Boot? And Mr Smith? And who is here now? What’s that man doing? And what on earth does that woman have in her bag?
Inspector Sands dissect the characters, reveal the secrets, consider the future and stare deep into the soul of the Great British High Street. It will never look the same again.
A High Street Odyssey was commissioned by Without Walls, Greenwich+Docklands Festival and Watford Palace Theatre.
